Your shield, your background.
Turn away to cover your displays; look back to clear them. Wallpaper is the default. Choose frosted glass or your own image instead, and adjust the turn angle and fade range. The Veil logo and instructions sit quietly at the bottom.
Open apps with a head gesture.
Assign an app or Shortcut to either of two head directions. Hold briefly to trigger it. Gestures work with the screen shield off. Head motion, not eye tracking.
A warning before your Mac locks. Experimental
Walking detection starts a 10-second countdown at the notch, even with the pet and shield off. Move your mouse or press a key to cancel. Adjust sensitivity from 2–8 walking-like movements; the default is 4. This estimates walking, not distance.
A curious companion.
A cat or dog looks in the same direction as your head. Choose its size and direction settings. It fits your Mac’s notch—or sits at the top of a screen without one. Use it on its own, with no blur.
Less setup. More control.
Customise your keyboard shortcuts to pause tracking or recenter and start it. A soft chime confirms activation; a soft pop confirms pausing. Automatic resume is optional, and your preferences stay saved.
At home on your Mac.
Veil follows your system’s light or dark theme. Update checks run daily by default while the app is open; you choose when to install. Existing update preferences are respected.

Do I need AirPods?
AirPods with head tracking are required for head gestures, the notch pet, and look-away shielding. iPhone proximity can blur or lock your Mac without AirPods.
Can I use just the pet or gestures?
Yes. Turn Screen shield off and leave tracking on. Your pet, gestures, and enabled walk-away locking can keep working without an overlay.
Does it show my real lock screen?
The shield uses a softly blurred still wallpaper, frosted glass, or your chosen image. It is not the macOS lock screen or an animated screensaver. Wallpaper falls back to glass if no still image is available.
How does iPhone proximity work?
Pair Veil Pocket by scanning the QR code shown on your Mac. Set separate blur and lock zones, then choose whether Veil responds to your iPhone, AirPods walking detection, either signal, or both.
